Master of Arts (M.A.) in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies

The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Russian, East European and Eurasian
Studies is a two-year multidisciplinary program that offers advanced
training for those qualified students who seek an integrated knowledge of
the language, history, society and culture of the former Soviet Union,
Eastern Europe and Eurasia. This graduate degree offers the opportunity to
create an individually tailored program. Upon graduation, students will
have an extensive understanding of the country or countries of
specialization, including a working knowledge of one of the region’s
languages.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited
college or university. Preferred qualifications include significant course
work on and/or academic or professional experience in the former Soviet
Union or East/Central/Southeast Europe, as well as intermediate proficiency
in at least one of the languages spoken in the region. A student who wishes
to pursue the graduate program in Russian, East European and Eurasian
Studies should show a substantial vested interest in our region of study
through prior experience such as regional or global studies upper-division
undergraduate coursework, an extended stay in the region (for research,
work, study, PeaceCorp, etc), or an advanced proficiency in one of the
languages of our region through course work or immersion.
