St. Petersburg, famously named “the most premeditated city on earth” by Fyodor Dostoevsky, is Russia’s second largest city after Moscow. Founded by Peter the Great in 1703 on the Baltic sea, it was Russia’s political center until the Bolshevik revolution. Today, it remains one of the world’s cultural capitals, famous for its art museums, literary walks, imperial palaces, numerous historic sites, and the magical white nights. The academic program will be supplemented by excursions and extracurricular activities.
